In 2026, the skilled nursing industry is entering a pivotal era, defined by a stronger emphasis on integrated, person-centered care. Today’s residents are presenting with increasingly complex medical, behavioral and social needs, and meeting those needs requires more than clinical excellence alone. It demands seamless collaboration across disciplines, where nurses, therapists, physicians and social workers work in concert to deliver holistic, high-quality outcomes.
Nowhere is this more evident than in the evolving role of social workers across care settings. March, officially recognized as National Social Work Month, is an ideal time to acknowledge the dedication, resilience and impact of these professionals. Social workers are essential advocates for individuals and families, and can significantly influence recovery and long-term well-being.
