Lisa worked as a dietary aide at Centers Health Care’s Schenectady Center, helping to ensure residents receive proper nutrition and enjoy their meals. But when her grandmother was diagnosed with dementia, Lisa’s sense of responsibility deepened. Watching her grandmother’s decline, she felt a strong desire to help others in similar situations.
Centers Health Care provided her with an opportunity to do just that. When Lisa learned about our free-of-charge certified nursing assistant (CNA) program for our employees, she decided to enroll. She was inspired by the thought of being able to directly impact the lives of residents, particularly those struggling with memory loss.
I am incredibly proud of success stories like Lisa’s. Since we began our in-house CNA training initiative nearly three years ago, we’ve had countless like them. This year, we’ll graduate hundreds of new CNAs from our program, which enables us to supplement the roster of traveling nurses who remain an essential part of our care delivery.
